  • It's not always easy to find information about cannabis copywriting. The author has done a great job of explaining how to approach writing for the industry and align yourself to do so. I have not found the information contained in the book anywhere else (and I have looked). After reading this, I'm confident that I am on the right track and know what my next steps should be.” - Amazon Review

Released in 2021, Writing for the Legal Cannabis Industry: Turning Passion for the Plant and the Written Word into Profit is a culmination of everything Anne-Marie E. Fischer, M.Ed. learned from building her own successful business creating content and educational materials for cannabis businesses worldwide.

This complete how-to-guide takes the reader from understanding what it means to write for the cannabis industry, to understanding the ins-and-outs of the industry, to developing your own craft and career as a bona fide cannabis writer.

It may be purchased on Amazon in book form or Kindle version.

Helpful Resources on Writing & Researching with Intention

  • Created by the Alberta First Nations Information Governance Centre, OCAP(R) was created to promote, protect and advance the principles of Ownership, Control, Access and Possession of First Nations´ research and data, the Inherent Right to self-determination and jurisdiction in research and information management.

It is important that any organization working with First Nations on research, data, or information projects be aware of OCAP(R) to honour the rights of the Indigenous people of Canada.

They can be described in more detail here.

  • The Guidelines for Inclusive Writing are designed to help the federal public service and any other organization produce writing that is free of discrimination based on sex, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disability or any other identity factor.

While not perfect, they are a helpful start to understanding how to write with the intention of inclusion. Find them here.

Truth & Reconciliation for Indigenous Peoples of Canada

  • Created by the Yellowhead Institute, which generates critical Indigenous policy perspectives, Calls to Action Accountability: A 2023 Status Update on Reconciliation reviews what progress (or lack of) has been made in the eight years since the release of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Final Report and the 94 Calls to Action. View the Yellowhead Institute report through their website here.

NOTE: As stated in a December 2023 National Post article, "Canada has been so slow to carry out recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that an Indigenous-led think tank says it has decided to stop publishing an annual report tracking its progress," referring to the Yellowhead Institute.

  • The Government of Canada's "tracker" on progress in responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action can be viewed here.
